Utilizing Geocoding

This lab we worked with a database of NCAA volleyball players that the class generate by using the publicly available roster information. The purpose of this lab is to understand how to manipulate geocoded data to make information more accessible. The first map generated was a simple depiction of the data points of the players high schools along with the college arenas of the players.

After uploading the data the lab called for a deeper analysis of the players and their distance from team arenas. To accomplish this goal we utilized the Buffer Analysis tool to create 100km rings around the arenas.

Then we were instructed to focus on the team that we were responsible for the data. In order to do this we removed the buffers from the other teams and created five buffer rings from the Oregon arena.
In order to delve deeper into analysis of the Oregon team we used the origin-destination tool. This tool allowed us to create lines between the arena and all of the Oregon players.
